Our 24-Hour Home Care services ensure aging loved ones living in the Inland Empire remain safe, secure, and supported every minute of the day. Clients who choose this option benefit from a dedicated team of in-home care providers who rotate shifts around the clock.
This service can be used as respite care, allowing primary caregivers extended periods off. Or, our incredible team of caregivers can be a mainstay of a loved one’s plan to age in place. By hiring a team of experienced caregivers to work around the clock, seniors get to remain in the comfort of their own homes and communities, surrounded by the people and things they love most.
Services Included with 24-Hour Home Care
First, it’s important to highlight that 24-Hour Home Care is not the same as “Live-in-Care.” Rather than caregivers moving into the home or requiring a room of their own, 24-hour senior home care services utilize a team of six to eight experienced caregivers who rotate shifts throughout the week. In most cases, shifts last between six or eight hours, after which the next caregiver arrives for the next shift.
As with all of our non-medical senior home care services, options are personalized to our client’s needs, continuously adapting to age or health-related changes as they arise.
Some of the most common services provided by our caregivers include:
Companionship
Companionship is often the reason clients seek our support. Research-based evidence indicates seniors who remain socially active and engaged have higher-quality lives, including significantly reduced risk for common senior ailments such as loneliness, anxiety, depression, or failure to thrive.
Those with access to regular social interaction and stimulation have better physical, emotional, and mental health and live longer than their counterparts. Also, memory care studies show seniors with cognitive decline associated with dementia progress more slowly through the stages of the disease when they have access to social interaction and mental stimulation.
Our caregivers get to know your loved one and their interests, tailoring activities and plans accordingly. Together we can:
- Read
- Watch TV or movies
- Play games and cards
- Listen to music
- Dance
- Garden
- Take walks
- Go on outings
- Eat at favorite restaurants
- Attend local, seasonal community events
- Volunteer in the community
- Maintain regular social engagements
- And more
We make sure our clients know they are never alone. And, of course, we are equally dedicated to respecting their privacy and dignity, allowing them alone time as requested or desired.
Personal Care Services
The combination of age-related physical changes and any associated memory loss makes it challenging for seniors to maintain daily hygiene and self-care routines. This can result in feelings of shame, embarrassment, and a reluctance to leave the house. Personal care services ensure clients “feel like themselves,” which yields confidence and extra energy.
Our caregivers make sure clients get safely out of bed each morning to get dressed and ready for the day. As with all of our 24-hour home care services, personal care is tailored to the client’s wants and needs and always with respect to their autonomy and dignity.
Personal care services include:
- Medication reminders
- Monitoring and support with bathing/showering
- Oral hygiene
- Dressing and accessorizing
- Grooming
- Transfers between sitting/standing and from room to room
- Toileting and incontinence care
- Relaxing bedtime routine to support healthy sleep habits
Transportation & Errand Running
Without a safe way to get around, seniors who no longer drive quickly become homebound, leading to a sedentary life. This is never healthy for anyone. As needed, our caregivers provide both transportation and errand running services.
We’ll make sure your loved one gets to maintain a rich activity calendar, taking them to and from social engagements and community activities. We’ll also drive them to routine medical and self-care appointments, to religious or spiritual centers, and can run their weekly errands–including the grocery shopping.
Light Housekeeping
Caregivers are also happy to perform the regular roster of light housekeeping duties. While we don’t provide full-time maid service or deep cleaning, we are happy to perform basic housekeeping chores, such as:
- Keeping the house picked up, tidy, free of trip hazards, and accessible
- Laundry
- Linen changes
- Vacuuming
- Cleaning that focuses on the four main living areas–kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom
We’re also available to do basic home upkeep tasks such as changing batteries in smoke alarms and CO detectors or replacing light bulbs as long as the replacement items are on hand or added to the errands list.
Meal & Snack Preparation
Did you know seniors are at high risk for malnutrition? The same age-related changes that pose a challenge to completing daily tasks can make meal preparation overwhelming. And, without access to fresh, healthy meals and snacks, seniors are more likely to suffer from fatigue, loss of strength and balance, or a decline in their general wellbeing.
During our 24-hour home care shifts, caregivers will prepare healthy meals and snacks aligned with the client’s dietary needs and restrictions. Loved ones also have company while they eat, a proven way to get seniors to eat more than they would on their own. The result is a healthy and vibrant life.
